Mais dès qu'arrive le printemps, elle attelle ses chiens et retourne planter sa tente dans la toundra pour y recueillir des oeufs d'oies sauvages ou braquer son fusil sur un phoque dont la peau lui fournira la matière première pour la confection des Kamik, ces bottes magnifiques qui ont assuré la survie de générations de chasseurs. Kamik, un film étonnant sur la rencontre de deux modes de vie en apparence diamétralement opposés!

To the Baffin Island Inuit arts and crafts are part of life. Their handbuilt kayaks are marvels of construction and speed. Skins for new garments are dried and softened, then decorated with Indigenous inspired patterns. Ivory carving, bone shuttles, and hand-fashioned spears, are products of traditional skill, while legendary stories, drumming, singing, and dancing, are enjoyed by old and young alike.

"I am but a little woman / Very willing to toil..." - Kivkarjuk's Song Inspired by an Inuit poem first assigned to paper in 1927, I Am But a Little Woman wordlessly evokes the beauty and power of nature, as well as the bond between mother and daughter. As her daughter looks on, an Inuit woman creates a wall hanging filled with images of the spectacular Arctic landscape and traditional Inuit objects and iconography. Soon the boundaries between art and reality begin to dissolve. I Am But a Little Woman features director Gyu Oh's hand-drawn animation set to a traditional tune, which she performs.
